SAI( )GON(E) GIRL is an essay film that positions present-day Vietnamese-American womanhood through an investigation of the “Saigon Girl.” The film threads together re-enactments of the play Miss Saigon, archival footage of Saigon and personal observations of motherhood and immigration in order to contextualize Vietnam’s long history of colonization and its relationship to the “Saigon Girl’s” identity and traumas.
